ITU Phonetic Alphabet

In order to transmit alphabet letters, numbers, and words correctly, radio amateur operators use a phonetic alphabet to pronounce individual letters and numbers and to spell words. This page gives the most widely used phonetic alphabet. For example, in giving an address, the operator might spell and pronounce "Wunder" as "Wiss-key", "You-nee-form", "No-vem-ber", "Dell-tah", "Eck-oh", "Row-me-oh". The call sign KD1FJ would be pronounced as "Kee-loh" "Dell-tah" Wun "Foks-trot" "Jew-lee-ett". Numbers are always pronounced individually. The number 38 would, for example, be given as "Tree" "Ait".

The easiest way to learn phonetics is to use them!
